After trouble shooting it turns out it is my Pegasus R (which has been super trusty for the past 4 years) is now not mounting. I followed the insructions on how to check the Thunderbolt port and sure enough it is showing up deep in the Apple menus, just not on desktop/disk utility like it usually does.
