What is the correct direction for hot on a vertical single faucet?
What is the correct direction for hot on a vertical single faucet?
I’m having a hard time finding an answer to this question. On a traditional single handle faucet, one with the handle on top (such as this Delta Foundations faucet) turning to the left is hot and turning to the right is cold. I now have two single handle faucets where the handle is mounted vertically on the right side of the faucet.
What are the handles on a kitchen faucet?
Faucet Handles. Typically, kitchen faucets have either one handle rotating directionally to change water temperature or two handles for mixing hot and cold water. These include a sprayer that sits to the side or a pull-out or pull-down sprayer with spray and stream options.

How does a hot and Cold Faucet work?
My new faucet (which I love) was just installed yesterday and it is a single lever faucet which I have never owned before. The hot and cold are controlled by moving the lever front and back. Moving forward gives me hot and moving back towards the window gives me cold.
Which is hot, the front or the back of the faucet?
Front is cold, back is hot. I’d rather have it that way because the kids tend to pull the handle forward when they turn it on and that way they get cold rather than ouch! Interesting question about whether it can be changed, though…I have no idea. Like | 1
How can I tell which way my faucet is hot or cold?
If you tilt the level to the right to turn it on, you’ll likely see red and blue markers on the metal that’s exposed by the tilt — these indicate the directions for hot and cold. Normally, hot is toward the back and cold is forward.
