Is there a problem with the Rinnai Water Heater?

Is there a problem with the Rinnai Water Heater?

Rinnai technical has no service bullitins, or mention of this issue in their troubleshooting guide. With no error codes, there is no problem! Gas flow regulation is OK per check out procedures. Local installing tech is stumped, anyone not?

Why does my Rinnai air conditioner make a noise?

The noise is like the unit is about to shake off the wall. It’s mostly noise from vibration of the unit. It lasts several seconds at start-up, then quits. Any ideas? I would call an Rinnai Authorized Service Tech. to diagnose and repair the problem.

What should the set point be on a Rinnai?

If the home does not have a pressure reducing valve, or if it is defective/set too high, the Rinnai will create this horrible vibration within the exchanger. Installing a proper sized regulator on the cold side prior to the unit is the solution. Typical set point should be 50 psi.

Why does my Rinnai heater have less than full pressure?

The Rinnai heater requres a minimun of a 6″water column of gas pressure to operate properly. If the gas pressure is less and the water flow is at full capacity, the water would normally run through the heater too fast to heat properly.

Is there a problem with the Rinnai Water filter?

The biggest mistake in installations nationwide is inadequate gas line sizing. If you have proper gas pressure, a clean filter and your flows are poor you could have a supply water pressure issue or possible a cold water flow control valve problem. Why does my Rinnai Water Heater have code 10?

Remove burner and inspect copper fins in heat exchanger for a build up between fins.  This will cause air flow restrictions which can lead to code 10’s.  If build up is present, you will need an air compressor capable of delivering 120 psi of air to blow out the burner and heat exchanger fins.

What should I do if my Rinnai Water pressure is low?

If you have proper gas pressure, a clean filter and your flows are poor you could have a supply water pressure issue or possible a cold water flow control valve problem. You may also try Rinnai tech service at 800 621-9419 (make sure you have the ser #).
