Yes! They are the same cartridge. 12801 is the number on the cartridge, but 1225 is the number on the package.
Are all Moen cartridges the same?
While the Moen 1200 and the Moen 1225 cartridges are interchangeable, the Moen 1222 Posi Temp cartridge is absolutely not interchangeable with the Moen 1225 or 1200. In fact, there isn’t any part that is interchangeable between the Moen 1222 vs 1225 replacement parts.
Can a Moen 1200 cartridge be replaced in a shower?
There is no repair kit available for the 1200 cartridge, it can be replaced with a new 1200 or a 1225 cartridge. If the application is Moentrol® 3-function vertical spa transfer valve, then it can be replaced with the 116719 cartridge. Higher flow-rate valve for tub and shower applications.
