There is absolutely NO difference between the Moen 1222 vs 1222B replacement cartridges. They are both the replacement part cartridge for the Posi Temp Moen shower valve. They are made from the same parts, the only difference is their packaging and model number. The “B” in the 1222B model number stands for Bulk.
How long does a Moen 1222 cartridge last?
The system has expensive cartridges, they cost about $30 (2014) to replace, but they last a long time — 20 to 30 years. It’s not a bad deal, and unlike modern ceramic faucets, Moen still makes the same part to put into valve bodies made 40 years ago!

What to do if Moen Posi temp 1222 leaks?
I checked the inside of the valve for debris and to be sure it was pretty smooth. i picked out a few pieces of rubber and plastic from the old cartridge, and rinsed the inside of the valve a few times with water. The insides felt pretty smooth to me, but of course I’m not a plumber, so don’t really know how smooth it should be.

Replaced a Moen shower cartridge but it still leaks. Anyone have experience with this? We have hard water that is terrible on our plumbing. It destroys seals, gaskets, etc… every 3-5 years on toilets, sinks, and anything else with a valve. Replacing the seals usually works but not this time.
Why does my Moen shower cartridge keep leaking?
When mine was leaking the issue was not the cartridge, but the seat that the cartridge tightens against when it is in the off position. The seat was removable using an Allen key. Basically take it all apart and then look inside where the cartridge would go. (Inside the valve body)

How can I fix a Moen faucet that is still leaking after?
I had a leaky Moen faucet (Moen 4600) so I removed the old cartridge and replaced it with a new brass replacement cartridge (model 1200.) Since replacing the cartridge I now have a leak from the valve stem, that leaks faster the more I open the valve.
