How do you troubleshoot a shallow well pump?
Water Well Pump Troubleshooting
- Record start pressure of pump.
- TURN POWER OFF.
- Drain water from tank by opening valve or faucet, leave it open.
- With tire gauge check air pressure. Air pressure should be 2 lbs.
- If start pressure is unknown add air to 25 lbs.
- If tank will not hold air – CALL FOR SERVICE.
How do I know if my coolant isn’t circulating?
After your engine is warm, feel the radiator near the bottom. If it’s still cool but the top part of it is hot, you’re not circulating coolant. That could also mean a stuck thermostat though. Watch out for the fan though, it will severely damage your fingers if you get them stuck in it.

Possible cause for this type of issues is that your pump has lost its prime. STEPS TO RE-PRIME A SHALLOW WELL JET PUMP (HORIZONTAL) Turn power to pump off. Remove gauge with bushing or bladder tank from top of pump. Pour water into pump until water fills pump housing. Replace gauge and bushing or tank, TIGHTEN. Turn power on.
Is the well pump connected to the pressure tank?
The pressure tank and well pump should be wired on the same breaker, so if you find a label for “well” or “water pump,” that should be the power shut-off for the pressure tank, too.

What to do if there is no water in the tank?
Watch out: turn off the pump immediately to avoid damage. If no water is being delivered and the pump is running and it’s an above ground pump, turn off power and inspect the pump cavity for the presence of water by removing the priming plug.
