How do you fix a broken shower handle stem?

Here’s a quick how-to:

Pry away the index cap at the front of the handle to access the handle screw. Remove the screw and pull.
Use pliers or a deep-socket wrench to gently turn the stem counterclockwise.
Wrap Teflon tape around the base of your stem and screw it into place.
Replace the handle hardware.

Can you grow a jade plant from a broken stem?

As mentioned, based on my experience, yes. You can still propagate a jade plant cuttings from a broken stem. As long as the rest of the stem is healthy and fresh, it can grow into a new plant again. The first step you can do is to take the healthy part of the stem by cutting and separating the broken part.

What causes a cartridge to get stuck in a shower stem?

In extreme cases of scale buildup, you’ll often see deposits on the valve stem after you remove the handle and on the exposed rim of the cartridge after you take off the escutcheon.

What to do if Moen faucet stem breaks?

I had previously purchased a different Moen Posi-Temp Cartridge Repair Kit, Moen part # 98040, which had the white plastic (useless) cartridge remover. It obviously won’t work if the cartridge stem has broken off. We were not quite ready to destroy the white vertical plastic visible fron of the old cartridge yet.

The broken cartridge is not easy to get out and Moen makes a Moen Cartridge Puller that you can use to pull the valve out. However, the valve puller screws into the shaft of the valve stem, which in our case broke off (pic below).
