Put enough water in the bathtub or sink to cover the bottom of the plunger, block the overflow outlet with a rag, put the plunger over the drain, and push down and up five or six times. The pressure should clear any clog and open up the pipe.

The flange has an outer diameter of 3 1/8″ and an opening of 1 7/8″. This would preclude the use of any standard bathtub drain kit. I checked the stock at my local Plumbing Supply house and all were approx 2 1/2″ outer flange diameter and approx 1 1/2″ opening. They had no idea what to do.

A standard waste & overflow (I believe that’s what you’re referring to) will fit 99% of the tubs out there. There may be some variation for height, but not too many tubs require a ‘special’ W&O. If the tub does indeed require something special, post a picture of it; maybe someone here will be able to identify it.
