Do you need vents for plumbing?
All residential plumbing fixtures need to be protected by a plumbing vent. Vents are frequently connected together inside the attic, which allows for fewer penetrations in the roof.
Can I combine plumbing vents?

You can usually tie up to eight fixtures to a single stack, but local codes differ, so it’s a good idea to check.

How tall does a vent have to be to merge with a drain pipe?
Vents cannot merge until they are something like 6″ inches above the flood level of the highest fixtures being vented. In other words, if you don’t connect the waste pipe from the upstairs bath into the existing waste plumbing above any of the downstairs fixtures, you should be okay.

What do you need to know about plumbing vent diagram?
Visualizing the pipes inside your wall (using a plumbing vent diagram) is made easier if you start from where you can see. You’ve opened up the cabinets under a sink before to see the P-shaped tube directly underneath the drain, right? It’s called the P-trap, and it starts the sewage/ventilation process.
